Senior System Administrator-Virtual Infrastructure

Job Type: Contract- 8 Months
Primary Location: Hybrid (required 10 days on-site per month at the Head Office in Ottawa)


Deliverables
  • Provide expert Operations Management support for virtual infrastructure and IaC automation tools: VMware vSphere 8.x (VSAN and NSX-T), VMware SRM, EMC RP4VM, VMWare vRealize Orchestration and Automation, Ansible Tower, and Azure DevOps
  • Configure real-time/continuous health monitoring on supported technologies
  • Resolve incidents and problems related to supported technologies and integrations within SLA specifications
  • Execute configuration management changes on supported technologies, as necessary
  • Execute standardized request fulfilment within SLA specifications while identifying opportunities to promote task automation by recommending design and implementing features, while ensuring proper testing, and maintaining documentation or release notes
  • Apply and maintain adequate cybersecurity controls supported technologies
  • Apply and maintain adequate resiliency controls, including the creation and validation of IT Disaster Recovery plans
  • Perform technology upgrades/updates/patching ensuring compliance with vendor provided compatibility matrices, and to maintain required cybersecurity controls
  • Perform capacity management on IT infrastructure
  • Respond to audit requests (i.e.: ad-hoc reporting)
  • Perform supported technology functional testing and health checks during change, incident and other activities performed by other teams, as required
  • Participate in on-call rotation, as required

Requirement
 
  • A minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience working with VMware vSphere 8.x (VSAN and NSX-T), VMware SRM, EMC RP4VM, VMWare vRealize/Aria Orchestration and Automation, Ansible Tower, and Azure DevOps
  • Demonstrated work experience in each of the following:
    • A scripting language, such as PowerShell or Python and in creating automation scripts, deploying orchestration and automation processes and products
    • Developing and supporting IAC (Infrastructure as Code) with tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Azure, etc.
    • System administration (priority given for VxRail, VSAN, Dell PowerEdge support)
  • Demonstrated ability to work individually or as part of a team
  • Demonstrated experience with technical decision-making needed to support a 24/7/365, multi-tiered large-scale production environment
